'Bama No. 1, Nebraska gets 1st-place vote

MCLEAN, Va., Sept. 20 (UPI) -- Alabama is the No. 1 team in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Poll but Nebraska siphoned a first-place vote from Ohio State.

Alabama (3-0) has had 55 of the 59 first-place votes each week of the poll with No. 2 Ohio State (3-0) getting the other four. That changed this week with Nebraska (3-0) grabbing one first-place mention and going from eighth to seventh in Monday's poll.

No team moved up more than two places. The biggest move of the week was by Iowa (2-1), which dropped eight places from 10th to 18th.

The first six places in the coaches' poll are the same as last week with Boise State (2-0) following Alabama and Ohio State and Texas (3-0) in fourth while Texas Christian (3-0) is fifth and Oregon (3-0) sixth.

Nebraska's move up one place knocked Florida (3-0) to eighth. Oklahoma (3-0) retained the No. 9 spot and Wisconsin (3-0) moved into the Top 10 from 11th a week ago.

Arkansas (3-0) is up two spots to 11th, leapfrogging Louisiana State (3-0), which kept its No. 12 place. Utah, Auburn and South Carolina, all 3-0 and up one place, are, in order, Nos. 13-15.
