MLB: LA Dodgers 7, Colorado 6 (11 innings)

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- A.J. Ellis's game-winning single in the 11th inning Sunday completed the Los Angeles Dodgers' 7-6 comeback win over Colorado.

The Dodgers, who trailed by as much as 6-1 early in the game, chipped away at the deficit until Matt Kemp doubled in the tying run in the bottom of the ninth off Rockies closer Huston Street to force extra frames.

In the 11th, Manny Delcarmen (0-2) allowed singles to Reed Johnson and Kemp and with one out intentionally walked Andre Ethier to load the bases. Ellis then lined a single to center, enabling Los Angeles to salvage one win in three-game set with the Rockies.

George Sherrill (2-2) was credited with the victory after fanning Carlos Gonzalez with the bases full in the top of the 11th.

Third-place Colorado blew a chance to gain ground in the playoff hunt, ending the day 1 1/2 games behind National West-leading San Francisco and a game in back of second-place San Diego.

Jason Giambi drove in three runs with a first-inning double and Dexter Fowler went 3-for-5 for Colorado.
