GUANGZHOU, China, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Jarmila Groth claimed her first WTA title with a straight-set victory Sunday over Alla Kudryavtseva at the Guangzhou International Women's Open in China.
Groth, 23, a professional for five years, didn't face a set point in her five matches in Guangzhou. She swept by Kudryavtseva in 76 minutes, taking control in the first set when she lost only 18 points.
Groth had 11 aces in the match and broke Kudryavtseva's serve five times.
Kudryavtseva had lost only one set in her four previous Guangzhou matches, which placed her in her first WTA final.
She won the $37,000 first-place check and Kudryavtseva took the runner-up prize of $19,000.
