ROME, N.Y., Sept. 19 (UPI) -- New York Giant Plaxico Burress says the worst aspect of his imprisonment is that his son asks why he's not playing this season.
In a prison interview published Sunday, Burress told the New York Daily News that Elijah, 3, is much on his mind. Burress is halfway through a two-year sentence for illegal possession of gun that went off in his pants in a New York City nightclub on Nov. 28, 2008.
The man who wore No. 17 for the Giants is now inmate number 09R3260 at the Oneida Correctional Facility.
Elijah is a big Giants fan, but when watching games, keeps asking why his father isn't home and doesn't play for the Giants anymore.
"What do I tell him? How am I supposed to answer those questions?" Burress told the Daily News.
"You can't go any lower than being here, other than being in the ground," he said. "It's about as tough as it gets, on a personal level. You learn a lot about yourself. You try to think about the bigger picture, about life outside these walls. You just try to find a way to get through."
