COL FB: West Virginia 31, Maryland 17

MORGANTOWN, W.Va., Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Geno Smith had a banner day Saturday, throwing for four touchdowns while leading No. 21 West Virginia to a 31-17 win over Maryland.

Smith was 19-of-29 passing and hit Stedman Bailey and Tavon Austin for two touchdowns apiece.

Noel Devine led the ground game for West Virginia (3-0) with 27 carries for 131 yards.

Jamarr Robinson was 13-of-24 for 227 yards and two TDs for Maryland (2-1). Torrey Smith caught a pair of TD passes on three total receptions.

West Virginia took a 21-0 lead into the locker room at halftime. They scored on their first drive, going 77 yards in seven plays culminating with a 6-yard TD pass to Austin.

The Terrapins scored two touchdowns in the third quarter but managed only a 35-yard field goal by Travis Baltz in the fourth.
