He added a two-run homer in the sixth to back Josh Tomlin (4-3), who surrendered three runs on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings, walking one and striking out four.
Chris Perez picked up his 20th save despite allowing the tying and go ahead runs to get aboard in the ninth and the Indians took the first of a three-game series at Progressive Field.
Angels starter Scott Kazmir (8-14) allowed four runs on seven hits over 5 2/3 frames.
