MLB: Boston 5, Oakland 3

OAKLAND, Calif., Sept. 12 (UPI) -- J.D. Drew's two-run double highlighted a four-run sixth inning Sunday that carried the Boston Red Sox to a 5-3 decision over Oakland.

Drew finished 3-for-3 and Ryan Kalish added a pinch-hit, two-run single for the Red Sox, who took the final contest of a three-game set to avoid a sweep at Oakland Coliseum.

Josh Beckett (5-4) collected the victory, limiting the A's to three runs on five hits and striking out seven in six innings of work.

Oakland starter Dallas Braden (9-12) gave up four runs on six hits over 5 2/3 frames.

Mark Ellis had two hits and drove in two runs for the A's.
