COL FB: LSU 27, Vanderbilt 3

NASHVILLE, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Stevan Ridley rushed for 159 yards, including a 65-yard touchdown run, and No. 16 Louisiana State posted a 27-3 win over Vanderbilt Saturday.

Ridley's performance helped salvage a subpar night from LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson, who completed only 8-of-20 passes for 96 yards with an interception for the Tigers (2-0, 1-0 SEC).

LSU put the game away with a 17-0 surge in the final quarter and a stingy defense that held the Commodores (0-2, 0-1) to 135 total yards.

Vanderbilt signal-caller Larry Smith had an even worse game, passing for only 70 yards on 8-of-15 attempts.
