COL FB: Kansas 28, Georgia Tech 25

LAWRENCE, Kan., Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Three touchdown passes by Jordan Webb led Kansas past No. 15 Georgia Tech 28-25 Saturday.

Webb was 18-of-29 for 179 yards and Daymond Patterson had seven catches for 85 yards and a touchdown.

The win was the first for Turner Gill, the new head coach at Kansas (1-1) and ended an eight-game losing streak that began last season.

Josh Nesbitt was 5-of-15 passing for 116 yards and one TD or the Yellow Jackets (1-1). He hit Stephen Hill with a 40-yard scoring strike and was successful on a 2-point conversion with 7:38 to play in the game to cut the Kansas lead to three points.

Georgia Tech had the ball one more time but the Jayhawks defense stuffed three consecutive running plays for forced the Yellow Jackets to punt from the Kansas 40.
