MLB: Florida 3, Washington 1

WASHINGTON, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Alex Sanabia threw 6 2/3 scoreless innings Friday and Clay Hensley picked up his first career save in the Florida Marlins' 3-1 victory over Washington.

Sanabia (4-2) allowed three hits and struck out three, helping Florida end a three-game losing streak.

He left the game owning a 3-0 lead and Hensley recorded the final four outs to get his save. Hensley began his five-year career as a starter, but the Marlins announced last week he would replace Leo Nunez in the closing role.

Dan Uggla had an RBI single in the first and Wes Helms added a run later in the inning with a sacrifice fly. Brad Davis hit a solo homer for the Marlins in the seventh.

John Lannan (7-7) allowed all three runs on seven hits with six strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings to take the loss -- Washington's third straight setback.
