MLB: Texas 4, Toronto 2

TORONTO, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Mitch Moreland drove in three runs Thursday and Colby Lewis struck out eight in 6 1/3 innings, pacing the Texas Rangers to a 4-2 victory over Toronto.

After losing five in a row, the Rangers have won two straight. They increased their lead over idle Oakland to 7 1/2 games in the American League West and reduced their magic number for clinching the division title to 16.

Any combination of Texas wins or Oakland losses totaling 16 will give the Rangers their first division crown in 11 years.

Moreland delivered a sacrifice fly RBI in the fourth to give Texas a 2-0 lead and he had a two-run double in the sixth.

Lewis (10-12) gave up five hits, one of them a solo homer by Lyle Overbay in the seventh. Jose Bautista also had a home run off Darren O'Day in the eighth, his 44th of the season.

Neftali Feliz worked a perfect ninth for his 35th save.

Shawn Hill (0-1) took the loss in his 2010 major league debut. He allowed four runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings. It was his 41st career appearance scattered over six seasons with three clubs.
