MLS: Chicago 0, Toronto FC 0 (tie)

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill., Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Toronto and Chicago played to a 0-0 tie Wednesday in a game between teams needing a win to help their playoff chances.

Chicago's Freddie Ljungberg had only the goalkeeper to beat in the opening minutes, but pushed his shot wide right and neither side had a good scoring chance the rest of the way.

Chicago has only one win in its last six games and Toronto has managed just five points in its 11 road games. Toronto is five points behind Seattle for the final playoff spot.

Toronto did not produce a shot in the first 45 minutes.
