NEW YORK, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Caroline Wozniacki and 2006 champion Maria Sharapova each logged third-round wins Saturday to advance at the U.S. Open.

Wozniacki had little trouble dispatching Taipei's Yung-Jan Chan 6-1, 6-0, in 73 minutes, continuing a hot streak this week in which she has dropped a total of three games in three matches.

Sharapova, meanwhile, breezed past American teenager Beatrice Capra 6-0, 6-0, also in 73 minutes. Sharapova and Wozniacki will meet in a blockbuster fourth-round match Monday.

Sharapova is 2-0 lifetime against Wozniacki, with both wins coming in 2008.

Meanwhile, 2008 finalist Jelena Jankovic was bounced in an upset by Wimbledon quarterfinalist Kaia Kanepi, 6-2, 7-6 (7-1). The Estonian took advantage of 41 unforced Jankovic errors and had her serve broken on five occasions.

Fifteenth-seeded Belgian Yanina Wickmayer held off Swiss veteran Patty Schnyder 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 7-6 (8-6) and Slovakian Dominika Cibulkova moved on with a 6-0, 6-1 rout of Spaniard Lourdes Dominguez Lino.
