MLB: Chi. White Sox 3, Boston 1 (2nd game)

BOSTON, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Gavin Floyd held Boston to one run over six innings Saturday and the Chicago White Sox edged Boston 3-1 to sweep their doubleheader.

Floyd (10-11) scattered five hits and two walks and fanned five to help the second-place White Sox move within 3 1/2 games of the Minnesota Twins in the American League Central.

Bobby Jenks collected his 27th save after recording the last four outs.

Carlos Quentin had a pair of hits and scored twice and Mark Teahen chipped in two hits for the Chisox.

Boston's Marco Scutaro knocked in the only run for the Red Sox, who lost the first game by an identical 3-1 score.

John Lackey (12-9) absorbed the loss, giving up four hits and three runs (one earned) over seven frames, striking out seven.
