COL FB: Penn State 44, Youngstown State 14

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Penn State rolled to a 44-13 win over Youngstown State Saturday behind the passing of true freshman quarterback Rob Bolden.

Bolden was 20-of-29 for 239 yards in his college debut and completed two touchdown passes, both to Brett Brackett.

Derrick Moye caught five passes for No. 14 Penn State (1-0) in the season opener for both teams. Chaz Powell ran a kickoff back 100 yards for a TD.

Kurt Hess was 21-of-25 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns for Youngstown State (0-1). Dominique Barnes caught an 80-yard TD pass in the first quarter and finished the game with 11 catches for 134 yards.

Youngstown State led 7-3 after one quarter but did not score again until the final minute of the game with the Nittany Lions leading 44-7.
