ARLINGTON, Texas, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- David Buehler kicked a 31-yard field goal on the final play of the game Thursday, giving the Dallas Cowboys a 27-25 pre-season victory over Miami.
Third-string quarterback Stephen McGee, who is not assured a spot on the Dallas roster, played the entire game and completed 27-of-42 passes for 304 yards and a touchdown.
McGee drove Dallas 75 yards in nine plays to set up the winning field goal. He also marched his team 49 yards in eight plays in the final seconds of the first half, giving Buehler a chance to kick a 51-yarder that created a 10-10 tie at intermission.
The Cowboys finished the pre-season at 3-2 and will start their campaign in Washington.
Chad Pennington went 7-of-10 for 40 yards and a touchdown for the Dolphins (2-2). Chad Henne was 6-of-11 for 53 yards. The Dolphins open in Buffalo.
