MLB: Cincinnati 6, Milwaukee 1

CINCINNATI, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Ryan Hanigan's three-run homer highlighted a six-run seventh inning Wednesday and Cincinnati's division lead grew to eight games with a 6-1 win over Milwaukee.

The National League Central-leading Reds had managed only two hits through six innings against Brewers' starter Chris Narveson before sending 11 men to the plate in the seventh. Cincinnati won its fourth straight and moved further in front of the fading second-place St. Louis Cardinals, who have lost five in a row.

Narveson gave up a one-out walk to Ramon Hernandez in the seventh and was replaced by Todd Coffey (2-3), who gave up three runs on three hits while throwing only eight pitches.

Hernandez scored on a double by Miguel Cairo, Paul Janish then produced an infield single and Hanigan, pinch-hitting for pitcher Aroldis Chapman, came through with a homer to left. It was Hanigan's fifth of the year.

Cincinnati kept the seventh inning going with two walks and a single and Scott Rolen delivered a two-run base hit to finish the scoring.

Chapman (1-0), a Cuban defector who made his major league debut Tuesday, worked the top of the seventh to get the win. He has faced six batters in his two appearances and retired them all, three on strikes.
