Report: Manny to White Sox in waiver deal

DENVER, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Veteran slugger Manny Ramirez is set to go from the Los Angeles Dodgers to the Chicago White Sox, sources told SI.com Sunday.

The White Sox claimed Ramirez on waivers and have completed a deal to send the 38-year-old slugger to Chicago on Monday, the Sports Illustrated Web site reported, citing unnamed sources.

The report said the Dodgers will get no players for Ramirez but the White Sox will have to pick up $4 million in salary to finish off the outfielder's two-year, $45 million contract with Los Angeles.

Ramirez likely made his final appearance with the Dodgers Sunday in Denver against the Colorado Rockies. He was ejected during a sixth-inning, pinch-hitting appearance for arguing a strike call on the first pitch he faced.

Ramirez spent two seasons with the Dodgers. This year was hampered by injuries, batting .311 with eight homers and 40 RBI over 66 games.
