Kariya to miss upcoming NHL season

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Free-agent winger Paul Kariya, suffering from post-concussion syndrome, will miss the 2010-11 NHL season, his agent says.

The 35-year-old veteran played the last three seasons for St. Louis. Last season he had 18 goals and 25 assists in 75 games.

Kariya, who had surgery on both hips during the 2008-2009 season, also has played for Anaheim, Colorado and Nashville. He has 402 goals and 587 assists in 989 career games.
