MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers 6, Colorado 2

DENVER, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Casey Blake's grand slam homer finished off a five-run eighth Friday and boosted the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 6-2 win over Colorado.

Colorado ace Ubaldo Jimenez had thrown seven shutout innings despite giving up seven hits but he struggled to start the eighth and Blake wound up hitting his home run off reliever Matt Belisle.

The Dodgers won their fourth straight and the Rockies had a four-game winning streak snapped.

Scott Podsednik singled to open the eighth, Jimenez walked Ryan Theriot and Andre Ethier doubled home Podsednik to tie it at 1-1.

Belisle came on and got one out before walking James Loney intentionally to load the bases.

That brought up Blake, who battled Belisle for eight pitches before hitting his home run to center. Jimenez (17-5) suffered his third straight loss.

Jonathan Broxton (5-4) worked 1 2/3 innings of relief to get the win.

Hong-Chih Kuo, who has replaced Broxton as the Los Angeles closer, was called on with a run in and a runner on first with two out in the eighth. He retired all four men he faced for his sixth save.
