Trio of golfers lead Gleneagles tournament

AUCHTERARDER, Scotland, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Gary Boyd, Julien Guerrier and David Lynn are tied for the lead after Friday's second round of the European Tour's Johnnie Walker Championship in Scotland.

Lynn closed with three birdies in his last four holes and shot 4-under-par 68 Friday, Guerrier had seven birdies en route to a 67 and Boyd had a bogey-free 68 in building 36-hole totals of 9-under-par 135.

George Coetzee, who shot 4-under 68 Friday, Stephen Gallacher (70 Friday) and Mark Foster (67) are tied for fourth at 7-under 137. Another nine golfers are tied at 6-under.

Boyd had an eagle on the 16th hole for the second consecutive day and added birdies at No. 7 and the ninth hole -- his final hole of the round -- in grabbing a share of the lead.

Lynn answered bogeys at Nos. 4 and 5 with birdies at the sixth and seventh holes. He also had a bogey at the 14th hole but came back with birdies at 15, 16 and 18.

Guerrier opened his round with birdies at Nos. 10 and 11. His up-and-down round including bogeys at the 12th and fifth holes but he matched Boyd with a birdie at his final hole and ended at 5-under for the day.
