FOXBOROUGH, Mass., Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Josh Brown kicked a 37-yard field goal as time expired Thursday, giving the St. Louis Rams a 36-35 pre-season victory over New England.
The game featured outstanding performances by three-time Super Bowl winning quarterback Tom Brady of the Patriots and Sam Bradford of the Rams, the NFL's No. 1 draft pick this year.
Brady played into the fourth quarter and threw three second-half touchdown passes to give the Patriots (2-1) a 35-27 lead. He completed 18-of-22 passes for 273 yards.
Bradford was 15-of-22 for 189 yards and two touchdowns.
The first of Brady's scoring passes was a 65-yarder to Randy Moss and the last one was a 5-yarder to Sam Aiken with 11:14 to play.
Thaddeus Lewis then drove the Rams 71 yards in 10 plays and Keith Toston scored on a 2-yard run. A 2-point conversion attempt failed, leaving New England with a 35-33 lead.
New England had to punt the ball away and the Rams (2-1) took over at their own 30 with 2:35 remaining. They drove 37 yards to the winning field goal.
