Baghdatis has not won a tournament since the final warmup for the Australian Open this year. He lost to Roger Federer in the semifinals of last week's Masters series event in Cincinnati and fell to David Nalbandian in the final of the Legg Mason Classic in Washington.

Viktor Troicki pulled off an upset during the evening session by ousting seventh-seeded Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (7-1), 6-2. Troicki will next take on Radek Stepanek, who won over Victor Hanescu 7-6 (7-4), 6-7 (4-7), 6-4.

Another quarterfinal match will send Thiemo De Bakker against Evgeny Korolev.

De Bakker defeated Florian Mayer 6-7 (2-7), 6-1, 7-5 and Korolev took out Illya Marchenko 7-6 (7-5), 6-4.
