MLB: Oakland 6, Cleveland 1

CLEVELAND, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Trevor Cahill gave up only an unearned run in seven innings Wednesday to continue his sensational campaign and bring Oakland a 6-1 win over Cleveland.

Cahill (14-5) surrendered a season-high seven hits but he lowered his ERA over his last six starts to 0.77.

He was staked to a five-run lead in the first inning and the A's went on to win for the sixth time in eight games.

Oakland batted around in the first against Mitch Talbot (8-11), who walked Daric Barton with one out and then hit Kurt Suzuki with a pitch. A single by Jack Cust brought in Barton and Mark Ellis drew a walk to load the bases.

Rajai Davis drove in one run with a single, leaving the bases filled, and Kevin Kouzmanoff cleared them with a double to center.

The Indians lost their fifth straight.

Oakland starters have worked at least six innings in 23 straight contests and the A's have given up no more than five runs in any of those games.
