MLB: Seattle 6, New York Yankees 0

NEW YORK, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Felix Hernandez and Garrett Olson combined to strike out 13 Friday and Seattle won its third in a row with a 6-0 victory over the New York Yankees.

Hernandez (9-10) gave up four hits and fanned 11 over eight innings. He won for the second time in three starts after managing just one victory in six July appearances.

Olson struck out two in a perfect ninth inning.

Russell Branyan keyed the Seattle offense with two homers, one of them a three-run shot in the first.

Alex Rodriguez returned to the New York lineup after missing three games with a strained left calf but he made only one trip to the plate.

He came to bat as a designated hitter in the second and grounded out to third. Rodriguez merely jogged to first base and was taken out of the game.

A.J. Burnett (9-11) took the loss, allowing all six runs on a season-worst 12 hits in seven innings.

New York had won three in a row.
