HOUSTON, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- A sacrifice fly by Ike Davis brought in Jose Reyes in the 14th inning Wednesday, giving the New York Mets a 3-2 win over Houston.

Gustavo Chacin (1-2) came on in the 14th as the seventh Houston pitcher and walked Jose Reyes to open the inning. Reyes moved to second on a sacrifice by Angel Pagan and then stole third. Mike Hessman drew a walk on a 3-2 pitch and Carlos Beltran was intentionally walked to load the bases.

Davis followed by lifting a fly ball to right that was deep enough to bring Reyes home with the winning run.

Manny Acosta needed just five pitches to retire the side in the bottom of the 14th and earn his first save.

The win went to Elmer Dessens (3-1), who escaped the 13th without allowing a run despite giving up two hits.

Geoff Blum hit a one-out homer in the ninth off R.A. Dickey to tie the score at 2-2.
