MLB: Toronto 3, Oakland 1

OAKLAND, Calif., Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Shaun Marcum hurled a complete-game one-hitter Monday, giving the Toronto Blue Jays a 3-1 victory over Oakland.

Marcum (11-6) brushed off poor starts in his previous two outings to notch his first career complete game. The only hit he allowed was a seventh-inning solo homer to Conor Jackson.

Marcum made 103 pitches, 73 of them strikes, walked one and struck out five in the dominating performance, which gave the Blue Jays a win in the first of a three-game set at Oakland Coliseum.

Jose Bautista hit an inside-the-park homer in the fourth -- his major league-leading 37th round-tripper -- and Edwin Encarnacion added a two-run blast in the fifth for Toronto.

Brett Anderson (3-4) took the loss for Oakland, allowing three runs on seven hits in six innings.
