CLEVELAND, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Travis Hafner hit a grand slam and Justin Masterson tossed six shutout innings Sunday in the Cleveland Indians' 9-1 win over Seattle.
Hafner's big blow and a Jayson Nix solo shot all came during a seven-run seventh inning for Cleveland, which took the rubber match of a three-game series at Progressive Field.
Masterson (5-12) survived six walks in six innings, allowing only one hit and fanning three to notch the victory.
Michael Brantley chipped in with a two-run homer for the victors.
Mariners ace Felix Hernandez (8-10) lost for the fourth time in five starts. He allowed six runs, all of which were unearned thanks to a two-out fielding error by second baseman Chone Figgins that opened the door for the Indians' big seventh inning.
