ST. LOUIS, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Derrek Lee pounded a pair of homers and Koyie Hill added two key RBI Sunday in the Chicago Cubs' 9-7 victory over St. Louis.
Lee smacked solo shots in the first and third innings, and Hill's two-run, ground-rule double ignited a six-run, fourth-inning outburst for the Cubs, who took the rubber match of a three-game series at Busch Stadium.
Marlon Byrd went 3-for-5 with an RBI and Ryan Dempster (11-8) surrendered only two runs on five hits in 6 2/3 innings to earn the win for Chicago.
Carlos Marmol was called on to close out the game and collect his 21st save this year after the Cubs bullpen gave up five runs in the late going to allow the Cardinals back into the game.
Cards starter Kyle Lohse (1-5), back from forearm surgery, was pounded for seven runs on six hits in three innings while making his first start since May 22.
Albert Pujols and Steven Hill went deep for St. Louis, which fell one game behind Cincinnati atop the National League Central standings.
