MLB: Seattle 3, Cleveland 2

CLEVELAND, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- David Pauley recorded his first major league victory Friday, helping the Seattle Mariners halt a seven-game road losing streak with a 3-2 win over Cleveland.

Pauley (1-4), who began the season with Class AAA Tacoma, had lost the first seven decisions of his career scattered over three years. He gave up two runs on seven hits with five strikeouts over six innings.

Pauley became the pitcher of record when Seattle took the lead with an unearned run in the sixth.

Adam Moore reached on a fielding error by shortstop Jason Donald that would have produced the third out of the inning. Franklin Gutierrez scored from third on the play to give the Mariners a 3-2 lead.

David Aardsma worked a perfect ninth for his 23rd save and Seattle improved to 3-1 under newly hired Manager Daren Brown.

The loss went to Fausto Carmona (11-10), who gave up three runs on nine hits in six-plus innings.
