MLB: Houston 10, Atlanta 4

HOUSTON, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- Jeff Keppinger's tie-breaking RBI single ignited a seventh-inning rally Monday and the Houston Astros went on to best Atlanta 10-4.

With runners at the corners and one out, Keppinger lined a solid hit over the shortstop to score pinch-runner Jason Bourgeois with the go-ahead run off Kyle Farnsworth (0-1).

Houston scored another run on Carlos Lee's single and then broke the game open when two runners came home on Atlanta catcher Brian McCann's throwing error.

Chris Johnson collected two hits and drove in three runs for the Astros. Lee chipped in with a pair of RBI.

The six-run outburst made a winner of Tim Byrdak (2-1), who got the final out of the seventh inning in relief of starter Bud Norris.

Braves rookie Mike Minor allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits over six innings in his major league debut.

Atlanta's lead over idle Philadelphia in the National League East dwindled to 1 1/2 games with the setback.
