FOXBOROUGH, Mass., Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Pat Phelan's first Major League Soccer goal Saturday sent the New England Revolution to a 1-0 victory over D.C. United.
Phelan scored in the 42nd minute after drawing a foul in the offensive third. Teammate Chris Tierney drove a long-range service to Phelan in the United penalty area and he headed it past goalkeeper Bill Hamid.

The win improved the Revs' record to 5-9-3. United fell to 3-13-3, spoiling the debut of interim Coach Ben Olsen, who took over after Curt Onalfo was fired this week.
