Posey named NL rookie, player of month

NEW YORK, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey Wednesday collected both the National League Player and Rookie of the Month honors for July.

Posey got both nods thanks to a tremendous month in which led the NL with 43 hits and finishing third with a .417 average. He also assembled a 21-game hitting streak.
