CARSON, Calif., Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Marco Pappa, Collins John and Mike Banner scored in the first half Sunday to send the Chicago Fire to a 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy.
After the trio put the Fire (5-5-5) up 3-0, attacker Landon Donovan scored two penalty-kick goals to bring the Galaxy (12-3-4) back into contention.
The goals were Donovan's fourth and fifth this season, and the 100th and 101st of his Major League Soccer career. He is the second-fastest player to reach 100 goals behind the New England Revolution's Taylor Twellman.
It was the Galaxy's first home loss this season.
