BOSTON, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Shelley Duncan went 4-for-5 and drove in a pair of runs Monday to power the Cleveland Indians to a 6-5 victory over Boston.
Duncan's two-run double in the fourth erased a 1-0 deficit and put the Indians ahead for good. Shin-Soo Choo added a two-run single in the sixth to score some insurance runs that Cleveland would end up needing.
Indians starter Fausto Carmona (11-8) claimed the victory after holding the Red Sox to one earned run through seven innings and Chris Perez nailed down his 13th save by tossing a scoreless ninth.
The Indians lost catcher Carlos Santana when he was injured on a play at the plate in the seventh inning. Ryan Kalish slammed into his outstretched leg while trying to score on Daniel Nava's pinch-hit single to right. Santana was taken off the field on a stretcher.
Red Sox starter Jon Lester (10-6) surrendered six runs on nine hits and five walks in 5 1/3 innings.
Adrian Beltre slammed a pair of homers and drove in all five of Boston's runs.
Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis was also injured in the contest, leaving the game with a jammed right thumb.
