NEW YORK, July 31 (UPI) -- The Cleveland Indians traded relief pitcher Kerry Wood to the New York Yankees Saturday for a player to be named later or for cash.
Wood, who was activated from the disabled list just before the trade, has had a tough year, his second for the Indians after spending the first 10 seasons of his career with the Cubs. He is 1-4 with a career-worst 6.30 earned run average in only 23 games for Cleveland this season.
