Cards get P Westbrook in 3-team trade

ST. LOUIS, July 31 (UPI) -- The St. Louis Cardinals acquired pitcher Jake Westbrook from the Cleveland Indians Saturday in a three-team trade with the San Diego Padres.

Under the deal, Westbrook and cash went to St. Louis from Cleveland while Cardinals outfielder Ryan Ludwick was shipped to the Padres in exchange for minor league pitcher Nick Greenwood.

To complete the deal, the Indians received San Diego pitcher Corey Kluber.

Westbrook was set to start Saturday for Cleveland against Toronto but was scratched before the game. In his place, the Tribe started rookie Josh Tomlin.
