NEW YORK, July 29 (UPI) -- R.A. Dickey allowed just four hits and Ike Davis hit a three-run home run Thursday, helping the New York Mets to a 4-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Dickey (7-4) issued two walks in addition to the four hits and struck out two.

He gave up a first-inning double to Jon Jay but the next two Cardinals who reached base were subsequently out on double plays. He took as three-hitter into the ninth but allowed a single by Colby Rasmus and a walk to Jay before being lifted.

Francisco Rodriguez came on to get the final two outs for his 22nd save.

Davis's home run came in the third inning off St. Louis starter Blake Hawksworth (4-7). Jose Reyes led off the inning with a double and Angel Pagan reached on a bunt single. One out later, Davis hit a shot to center that made the score 3-0 and gave him 15 home runs so far this season.

The Mets added a run in the fifth off Hawksworth when Pagan, who had tripled, scored on a Carlos Beltran base hit.
