Pavlyuchenkova wins in rout in Istanbul

ISTANBUL, Turkey, July 27 (UPI) -- Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova dropped just one game Tuesday in taking a first-round victory at the Istanbul Cup in Turkey.

Pavlyuchenkova, seeded third, topped Marta Domachowska 6-1, 6-0. Pavlyuchenkova actually dropped serve once but broke Domachowska's serve six times and won 70 percent of the points in the match.

Top-seeded Francesca Schiavone finished off a 6-2, 6-2 win over Anne Keothavong in a match that had been suspended because of rain Monday with Schiavone ahead 4-0.

However, No. 2-seeded Petra Kvitova was ousted, losing 6-2, 0-6, 6-4 to Anastasija Sevastova, who saved both third-set, break-point situations she faced.

Fifth-seeded Tsvetana Pironkova topped Tatjana Malek 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 but No. 7-seed Klara Zakopalova fell to Anna Lapushchenkova 5-7, 6-2, 6-3.

In other matches, Elena Baltacha slipped by Cagla Buyukakcay 7-5, 7-6 (7-4); Elena Vesnina routed Bojana Jovanovski 6-2, 6-0; Anastasia Rodionova beat Basak Eraydin 6-1, 6-3; and Sorana Cirstea was a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 winner over Akgul Amanmuradova.

Other first-round winners Monday were Magdalena Rybarikova, Jarmila Groth and Ekaterina Makarova.
