DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., July 26 (UPI) -- Jiyai Shin's one-stroke victory at the LPGA's Evian Masters returned her to the No. 1 spot in the world women's golf rankings.
Shin had a closing-round 67 Sunday -- the fourth consecutive round in which she improved her score at the Evian Masters Golf Club in France -- and edged Choi Na-Yeon, Alexis Thompson and Morgan Pressel by one stroke for her seventh LPGA title in two years.
The title also moved Shin, ranked fourth a week ago, to the No. 1 spot in the world rankings, a position she held for seven weeks in May and June. She pushed last week's No. 1, Ai Miyazato, to second, the second time Miyazato held the top spot for one week.
Cristie Kerr, No. 1 two weeks ago, is now third and Suzann Pettersen is ranked No. 4.
The rest of the Top 10 stayed the same with Yani Tseng in fifh, Choi Na-yeon ranked sixth and Paula Creamer No. 7. Anna Nordqvist is in the eighth spot followed by No. 9 Kim Song-hee and No. 10 Karrie Webb.
