MLB: St. Louis 4, Chi. Cubs 3 (11 inn.)

CHICAGO, July 26 (UPI) -- Felipe Lopez's two-out, solo home run in the 11th inning Sunday propelled St. Louis to a 4-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs.

The Cardinals also got a solo homer from Albert Pujols and Skip Schumaker went 4-for-4 with an RBI as they avoided a three-game sweep at Wrigley Field. A Brendan Ryan RBI produced the other St. Louis run.

Ryan Franklin (5-1) picked up the win by pitching two scoreless innings of relief. Dennys Reyes got his fourth career save when he came on for Kyle McClellan in the bottom of the 11th to strike out Kosuke Fukudome and leave the tying run at second.

Chicago got RBI hits from Ryan Theriot and Marlon Byrd but only went 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position.

Brian Schlitter (0-1) was tagged with the loss -- his first major league decision -- when he gave up Lopez's homer.
