Johnson's long putt wins Scandinavian Open

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, July 25 (UPI) -- Sweden's Richard S. Johnson scored a dramatic win Sunday, sinking a 30-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to win the Scandinavian Open by one stroke.

Playing before a cheering a home country crowd at Bro Hof Slott near Stockholm, Johnson avoided a looming playoff with Argentina's Rafa Echenique by holing the long putt, firing a 1-under 71 for the day and finishing at 11-under 277.

The win by a Swede was only the second in 12 years at the Scandinavian Open.

Echenique had finished his round of 69 two groups earlier and watched as Johnson sank his winning putt.

Scottish Open winner Edoardo Molinari (69) finished third at nine-under 69.

British Open winner Louis Oosthuizen (73), Australian Brett Rumford (69) and New Zealander Mark Brown (71) finished in a tie for fourth place.
