PITTSBURGH, July 24 (UPI) -- Adrian Gonzalez and Chase Headley delivered run-scoring hits during a decisive sixth-inning rally Saturday and the San Diego Padres downed Pittsburgh 9-2.

Gonzalez and Headley each finished the night with two hits and an RBI, and each drove in runs in the sixth when San Diego scored three times to erase a 2-1 deficit and take the lead for good.

Everth Cabrera and pinch-hitter Oscar Salazar each chipped in with a pair of RBI for San Diego. Mat Latos (11-4) came off the disabled list to toss six innings of two-run ball, lifting the first-place Padres to their seventh win in nine games.

Jeff Karstens (2-6) allowed four runs (two earned) on seven hits over six innings for Pittsburgh.

Jose Tabata homered and went 3-for-5 for the Pirates.
