NEW YORK, July 21 (UPI) -- Mark Teixeira drove in three runs and Colin Curtis hit a pinch-hit homer Wednesday in the New York Yankees' 10-6 slugfest win over the Los Angeles Angels.
Teixeira went 3-for-5, including a two-run single in the third inning to put the Yankees up 3-0, and Curtis contributed a three-run shot in the seventh -- his first major league round-tripper -- to cap New York's 15-hit attack.
Robinson Cano and Juan Miranda added homers and Derek Jeter went 3-for-5 with three runs scored, helping the Yankees split a brief two-game series with the Angels and maintain their 2 1/2-game lead in the American League East.
Javier Vazquez (8-7) got the win despite surrendering five runs on nine hits over five innings.
Joel Pineiro (10-7) was pounded for six runs in six innings for the Angels, who got homers from Hideki Matsui and Bobby Wilson in the loss.
