LOS ANGELES, July 21 (UPI) -- Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw, Manager Joe Torre and bench coach Bob Schaefer all received suspensions Wednesday.

The discipline was handed down as a result of an incident in Tuesday's game between the Dodgers and the San Francisco Giants, in which Kershaw was ejected after umpires concluded he intentionally threw at Giants outfielder Aaron Rowand in the seventh inning.

Kershaw was given a five-game suspension and fined, but has filed an appeal. Torre and Schaefer were both suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount.

The Dodgers lost Tuesday's game 7-5 after hitting coach Don Mattingly -- acting manager in Torre's absence -- was forced to remove closer Jonathan Broxton from the game due to a rule prohibiting making two visits to the mound in one trip out of the dugout.
