MLB: St. Louis 8, Philadelphia 4

ST. LOUIS, July 19 (UPI) -- Albert Pujols and Allen Craig launched fifth-inning homers Monday and the St. Louis Cardinals went on to defeat Philadelphia 8-4.

The Cardinals stormed back after spotting the Phillies an early 3-0 lead. Trailing 4-2 entering the fifth, St. Louis exploded for five runs, highlighted by Pujols' two-run blast and a solo shot by Craig.

Pujols drove in three runs and Blake Hawksworth (4-5) survived a shaky start to go six innings and collect the victory, which allowed St. Louis to keep sole possession of first place in the National League Central.

Skip Schumaker and Randy Winn also went deep for the Cards.

Phillies starter Kyle Kendrick (5-4) was spanked for seven runs on seven hits over five innings.

Shane Victorino drove in two runs for the Phillies, who also got one RBI apiece from Jimmy Rollins and Raul Ibanez.
