ST. LOUIS, July 17 (UPI) -- Adam Wainwright collected his 14th win with six shutout innings Saturday, leading the St. Cardinals to a 2-0 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Wainwright (14-5) scattered five hits, walked one and struck out three, lowering his ERA to 2.02. He became the second major league pitcher to reach 14 wins this season, trailing only Ubaldo Jimenez of Colorado with 15 triumphs.
Kyle McClellan tossed two scoreless innings in relief and Ryan Franklin completed the shutout, getting the last out in the ninth inning for his 17th save and boosting the Cardinals to their fourth straight win.
Skip Schumaker and Brendan Ryan drove in the St. Louis runs.
Hiroki Kuroda (7-8) took the hard-luck loss for the Dodgers, allowing only one run on four hits over six innings.
Los Angeles lost its third straight game coming out of the All-Star break.
