OAKLAND, Calif., July 13 (UPI) -- Free-agent forward Dorell Wright has signed with the Golden State Warriors in a deal said to be worth $11 million over three years.
Wright, 24, averaged 7.1 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 72 games for Miami last season.
Warriors General Manager Larry Riley noted Wright has improved each of his six NBA seasons in Miami yet thinks his best basketball is yet to come.
"Dorell is a natural small forward who can shoot the basketball, rebound his position and will certainly provide our team with a defensive mentality," Riley said.
Wright said he likes Golden State's up-tempo style "and I think that my ability to play defense with my length and athleticism will prove to be a valuable addition to the team as well."
