PHILADELPHIA, July 13 (UPI) -- The Philadelphia Flyers signed tough-guy left wing Dan Carcillo to a one-year contract, the team said Tuesday.
The signing comes after Carcillo, 25, filed for salary arbitration last week.
"We are happy to have Dan under contract for the 2010-11 season," said Philadelphia General Manager Paul Holmgren.
Carcillo is known for his "enforcer" style -- his 207 penalty minutes ranked fourth in the NHL last season. But he is not merely a one-dimensional player, scoring 12 goals and racking up 10 assists over 76 games last season.
In 225 career games between Phoenix and Philadelphia, Carcillo has 32 goals and 35 assists with 859 penalty minutes.
