Webber dominates British Grand Prix

SILVERSTONE, England, July 11 (UPI) -- Mark Webber dominated nearly from start to finish Sunday, cruising to a win in the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, England.

Webber passed Red Bull Racing teammate Sebastian Vettel on the opening lap and was never headed, crossing the finish line 1.36 seconds ahead of Formula 1 points leader and British fan favorite Lewis Hamilton of McLaren.

Webber's win came with a bit of redemption after Red Bull officials removed a newly developed front wing off of Webber's car and gave it to Vettel before Saturday's qualifying race. After starting alongside Vettel in the front row, Webber passed him coming out of the first corner and never looked back.

Vettel ended in 24th after puncturing a tire on the rumble strips and making an unexpected pit stop.

Nico Rosberg of Mercedes GP came in third, making the podium for the first time since April's Chinese Grand Prix. McLaren's Jenson Button claimed the fourth spot and Rubens Barrichello of Williams ended in fifth.
